WEEKLY LETTER
ISSUE #14 · July 19

The World Cup Final is a special day for me because soccer used to be my whole life.
From the age of 4 until 21, I spent thousands of hours playing soccer.
It was my passion, the activity I looked forward to the most, my way of making friends, staying in shape, and held the structure of my life.
One player has been better than the rest during this whole time period: Lionel Messi.
An icon, a legend, there are no words left to describe him (win or lose today since I am writing this email before the final. Score prediction 2-1 Argentina in Extra Time).
However, I find myself drawn to something new during the World Cup this year.
The fans.
I have never seen so much positivity, community, and unity during a World Cup as I have in the past month.
Possibly because the tournament was partially held in the United States (where I am from), but possibly because the world is healing and coming together more and more.
I am rooting for the later.

This past week I went off the grid.
Barely on my phone, terrible cell service, and very little work on my computer.
Another week spent with my family (this time on my mom’s side of the family).
It was really nice to disconnect from technology and reconnect with nature through walks in the woods, fishing & swimming in a lake, and little to no cell signal.
I also had my 24th birthday this past week!
Which for me is a fun day to reflect on the previous year and look forward to the next year.
I have never changed so much as I did in my 23rd year on this Earth.
What a time to be alive.
