Notes from James
WEEKLY LETTER
ISSUE #23 · Sept 20
Hey {{first_name}}
Humans are both the most connected and the least connected we have ever been.
We have the ability to reach anyone in the world and yet this possibility has made real connection hard to find.
The tiny super computers in our pockets has removed the wonder about life. It has decreased our need to rely on others to do anything.
We no longer have to ask for directions, restaurant recommendations, or the closest place to sleep. All of that connection moved from person to person to person to technology.
It’s sad to see really. We used to trust and rely on others. Now everything can be figured out on our own and we’re more isolated than ever.
That’s not even to mention that if you spend all day texting someone then your need for physically seeing them to talk about what’s going on has just decreased dramatically.
However, there are still old-fashioned natural connections being made every single day.
And, if you are someone who seeks to meet new people, you will find that there are moments of no connection and moments of strong connection.
People who have their guards up, and people who are happy to meet you in your new connection.
It is rare to find someone in the middle of these two options, but there is actually a third outcome that is beyond a strong connection.
You know the people that you meet once and it feels like you’ve known each other for your whole life?
These are the people worth keeping in your life.
These relationships are why it’s worth striking up a conversation with a stranger in public.
The possibility of finding a new long-lost best friend outweighs the fear of talking to strangers & the chance that the stranger doesn’t want to talk to you.
You never know who you’re going to meet next.

From James
This past week I settled into my brother’s place for the week, got a haircut, and re-launched my first digital product.
Almost 2 months ago I created a Notion template that encapsulates all of the learning techniques I have picked up over the past 390+ days.
The template includes an Idea Generator, Credible Source Guide, prompts to learn any topic in 7 days, and a log to keep track of all of your learning.
I have delayed launching this product for so long because of the stigma that “influencers” selling digital products gets.
I have thought a lot about whether people actually want this Notion template, and more importantly if it will actually provide the value is promised.
With the price of $17, I didn’t make this product because I thought it would make me rich, but instead because I think it can genuinely help people to start learning more.
At the end of the day I hope it can help people to start learning new things for the simple pleasure of learning new things.
This could be anything from random fun facts to shock your friends, to difficult skills that you can end up making money with down the line.
If you are interested in the template I made, here is a link to more information:
