Notes from James

WEEKLY LETTER
ISSUE #9 · June 14

Hey {{first_name}}

One of my favorite topics to think about is happiness.

This all started when I heard Mo Gawdat go on The Diary of a CEO podcast in 2021.

Mo Gawdat is a brilliant intellect who was previously a high-level executive at Google X.

He also wrote my favorite book about happiness: Solve for Happy

The goal of the book is simple, to share an equation for happiness in which if the conditions are met, then the person is happy.

Here is the equation:

Happiness ≥ Your Perception of the Events of Your Life - Your Expectations about How Life Should Behave

What does this mean?

Happiness is all about your perception of reality and your expectation of reality.

When you perceive life as better than your expectations then you will be happy.

When you perceive life as worse than your expectations then you will not be happy.

If your initial reaction to this equation is to hold lower expectations for how life should behave, then that is one way to achieve happiness, but it’s not how Mo Gawdat recommends reaching it.

Instead, you can control your perception of the events in your life.

Did you catch that? It’s not the events that actually happen in your life, it is your perception of the event. Completely different.

You control how you perceive the events in your life.

Here’s an example on changing your perception: most people perceive a breakup as a negative to their life.

Changing your perception about the event (the breakup) would be accepting the breakup as the unfolding of space for something new to come into your life instead.

Just a small example, think about how this can apply to your own life.

From James

This past week I went to my first ever health conference.

For those of you that don’t know I am super in to alternative health, but I don’t talk about it much because I get censored on social media.

My full-time job is working for a company that sells structured water and energy harmonization devices. If you’re curious to learn more, click here.

While I respect mainstream medicine working for people who are really sick, I think it should be the last resort for everybody.

I believe that the human body knows how to heal itself, and if you are sick, then you are not giving your body what it needs to heal.

The conference that I went to shared these same ideas and it was very informative.

My favorite topics to learn about were centered around circadian rhythm, light, water, dowsing, and mitochondria.

If you’re interested in alternative healing, send me a message and we can “nerd-out”
