WEEKLY LETTER
ISSUE #10 · June 21

Hey {{first_name}}

There is no substitute for doing the thing that you want to do but don’t end up doing.

Let’s use going to the gym as an example (my favorite analogy).

If you want to strengthen the muscles in your body then you have to exercise (i.e. go to the gym) on a regular basis. A few times a week if you want to progress in the near future.

There is no physical reality where not exercising makes you stronger, and you know that. Everybody knows that, it’s perfectly rational.

Yet, people will still get in their own way of starting.

From my experience, the reasons that stop you from starting to do the thing that you want to do, or you know would be good for you, are insecurities and limiting beliefs.

Both of which can be very convincing in your own head., but what happens when you break them down to the smallest component possible?

“I can’t go to the gym because I’m out of shape and people will judge me”

I can’t think of a single time when I have seen someone out of shape at the gym that has been publicly embarrassed.

AND, if people do judge you, then what happens?

You get in better shape over time and if the judgement was behind your back then you never heard even heard it.

What is people judge you to your face?

You still get in better shape, you have more motivation to get in better shape, you still have a home, a job, food on the table, etc.

Who cares?

It says a lot more about them as a person then you.

The best version of yourself is able to see through the insecurities and limiting beliefs and start doing the thing that you want to do no matter what other people think or the outcome.

This is a reminder to start.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Fear is a mile wide and an inch deep. It looks like an ocean you are going to step into and drown. But, you step in, and it’s not that deep at all.”

From James

This past week I hit 300 days of posting a video on social media every single day.

A lot has changed in these past 10 months.

Where I live, what I look like, my confidence, routines, and business.

However, one thing changed more than every thing else. My transition from being a passive scroller to an active creator.

This shift might not sound like a big deal but it has completely changed how I see the world.

I get asked a lot about how I come up with ideas for my videos, and this change is a big reason how.

When I started making learning videos 10 months ago, I started looking for things to learn about in my day to day life. Every day.

It’s completely different to walk from your bedroom to your kitchen while scrolling on your phone; rather than looking at the things in home that you use all the time but never thought about how they work or where they came from.

Even right now, I looked around and started to wonder how the modern printer was invented and how it works.

Your life changes when you focus on new things.
