WEEKLY LETTER
ISSUE #19 · Aug 23

Hey {{first_name}}

Goals are fun in theory.

Goals are great for inspiring action.

Goals are NOT doing the work to achieve the goals.

While goals are helpful for pointing you in a direction that you want to go, they are often lacking in the reality of how you can reach your goals.

Yesterday, I achieved the biggest goal of my adult life:

Post 2 videos every day for 365 days in a row.

To me, this is a much better goal then one that sounds like, “My goal is to reach 10,000 followers on social media.”

That’s because the goal I set is in my control, the follower account, is not.

I can control weather I show up every day and post 2 videos every day for a year.

I cannot directly control how many people watch the video, like the video, comment on the video, or follow me as a result of the video.

While this goal was far from easy to achieve.

I have reached my goal, and I am proud of myself.

If you want to learn my next goal, watch the YouTube video below.

From James
This past week I spent a lot of physical and mental energy to get ready for the milestone we reached yesterday :)

A few days ago I noticed a some comments on Instagram about expectations and anticipation for reaching my goal of 365 days.

While, well intentioned, I took these comments to heart and felt the need to over-perform for this milestone.

For the first time in my 365 days of posting, I edited an intro, I scripted a video, and I memorized lines so that the video would come out just as I had planned.

It was fun to take the last day of the year to another level.

I see it as a symbol of the pride that I take in the content that I make.

I have also been learning how to edit in Davinci Resolve which is like the holy grail of editing softwares.

There is a steep learning curve but it is going to help in the long run for what I want to create on YouTube.

Thank you for all of the warm messages I have received over the past 24 hours!

See you next week!
